✍️ AI Text Rewriter
Paste text and choose a rewriting goal. Keep the document editor separate from the AI service so the integration can be swapped later.
A smoother sentence is still a different sentence
Rewriter posts your text to /api/ai with task: "rewrite". The Worker prompt asks for a professional rewrite that preserves meaning and returns only the improved version. Temperature is 0.3. The answer stops around 1,800 tokens. There is no diff view in the page. You have to make one. Paste the source and the result into any comparison tool and read the red lines, especially negatives, dates, and units.
The POST is HTTPS. The Worker does not save the body. The model still saw it. Do not rewrite a paragraph that contains a customer account number “to make it flow.” Delete the number first.
| Rewrite | |
|---|---|
| Prompt | Preserve meaning. Return only the rewrite |
| What still changes | Negations, names, implied scope |
| Cap | 30,000 characters in, ~1,800 tokens out |
| Storage | None in the Worker |
Prose, not obligations
A status email
Rewrite the draft. Check that “blocked on legal” did not become “waiting on a few details.” Send the version a human compared.
A help paragraph
Useful. Still search for the UI labels. If the button says Generate, the rewrite should not say Submit.
A policy line
Leave it, or have the owner of the policy edit it. Fluency is not authority.
A paragraph extracted from two columns
Fix the extract before you rewrite it. Rewriting a sentence that welds a sidebar to a footnote produces a clean paragraph that never existed.
Section, then a diff
- Paste one section. Strip secrets.
- Generate. Copy both versions.
- Read every change that is not wording: numbers, not, dates, names.
- Keep the source paragraph in the doc as a comment until the owner accepts the new one.
Rewrite PDF content is the negation that vanished.
Read the red lines, not the tone
The prompt asks for preserved meaning and only the rewritten text. The page does not show a diff. Paste both versions somewhere that does. Look for a missing “not,” a changed unit, a product name that became a description, and a condition that moved from required to optional. Those are the edits that survive a casual read because the new paragraph sounds finished.
Rewrite one section. A manual that exceeds 30,000 characters loses the tail before the model starts, and the 1,800 token cap shortens what remains. The smoother short version is not the policy. If the paragraph contains an account number, delete the number before the POST. The Worker does not store the body. The model still receives whatever you left in.
UI labels are facts. If the button in the product says Generate, the rewrite should not say Submit. Search those labels after the diff. A paragraph that reads well and names the wrong control is a bug you introduced by accepting the completion whole. Keep the source paragraph beside the rewrite until someone who owns the text accepts the new one. The box on this page only shows the latest completion.
Frequently asked questions
Will a rewrite keep the numbers?
The prompt says to preserve meaning and return only the improved version. It does not lock tokens. “Not required” can become “optional,” and a negation can disappear because the sentence reads more smoothly without it. Diff the output against the source like a code change.
Why is the answer shorter than my section?
The completion is capped near 1,800 tokens, and the input is sliced at 30,000 characters. A long policy becomes a shorter policy. Rewrite a section. Do not feed the whole manual and assume the tail survived.
Can I rewrite a contract clause?
You can send it. You should not replace the clause with the completion. A smoother sentence can drop a condition. If counsel wrote it, leave it. Rewrite the email around it.
Does the page keep a history of drafts?
No. The box shows the latest completion. Copy it out if you need both versions. The Worker does not store the prompt. You transmitted it for the call.
It changed a product name.
Search for the names that must not move. The model prefers common phrasing. A product name that looks like a description gets “improved.” Put those strings back before anyone else reads the paragraph.
Is this the same as PDF to Word?
No. Word extraction does not send text. Rewriter does. Extract locally first if you only needed the words. Rewrite only the paragraph you are willing to transmit.
