Translate PDF Online
Extract text from a PDF, translate it, and export a clean translated PDF. Best for text-based PDFs; scanned PDFs need OCR.

Text leaves. The layout stays behind
The translator extracts text in the browser, then fetches /api/ai with task: "translate" and a prompt that names the target language, the source language, and the text. The Worker caps that text at 30,000 characters and does not persist it. The call is HTTPS, same as the rest of the site. TLS covers the POST. It does not make the excerpt local. If the network is down, translation is down. Merge would still run.
Scans must be OCR’d and checked first. Translating a misread 1050 translates the error into a language where the reviewer may not spot it. There is no “leave this span alone” control you should trust under deadline. Cut the sentences that may change. Leave the court name untranslated if the glossary says so.

Drafts a person still has to read
A form with Yes on the left and No on the right
The mark was on No. Rebuilding from “the usual order” puts the mark on the first box. Look at the scan. Write “mark is on No” in the margin of the draft.
A defined term
The model will offer a plain synonym. If the firm requires résiliation, search for annulation and replace it. Do not restyle the paragraph while you are there.
Currency
Digits sometimes survive while the unit word changes, or a conversion to another currency appears that was not in the source. Search for the symbol that was not in the original.
A bilingual page
Do not run the whole page and hope one language remains. Translate only the sentences that are allowed to change. Paste them back under the lines that must stay.
Extract, send the excerpt, then search
- Confirm the PDF has a text layer, or OCR and proof it.
- Split to the pages you are allowed to transmit. Pick the languages.
- Run the translation. Treat the download as a draft.
- Search proper nouns, forbidden synonyms, and currency symbols. Read numbers with their units. Rebuild boxes only on pages someone will sign.
The checkbox that flipped is the worked example.
Length and proper nouns
A translation that is longer than the source will move headings and signature blocks. Do not cite “page 12” from the download as if it were page 12 of the original. Search a case number or a party name. If that name was translated, put the source spelling back before anyone files the draft.
Frequently asked questions
Does the translation match the columns and checkboxes?
No. You get the translated text in a readable document. A two-column form becomes linear. Checkbox marks are often drawn as paths, not text, so the words move and the mark does not. Note which box was ticked by looking at the source.
Why are some lines missing?
They were never text. Logos, stamps, and scans do not pass getTextContent. OCR the upright page, proof the digits, then translate the corrected text. Do not ask the model to fill a blank from context. Context is how a smudge becomes a clause.
Is the document uploaded as a PDF?
The text is. The page POSTs JSON to /api/ai with task translate, including the source and target language and the extracted text. The Worker slices text at 30,000 characters, calls a model, and returns the completion. It does not write the body to a database.
Will numbers and names stay put?
Not automatically. A surname that looks like a noun can be translated. A monthly fee can become annual because a unit word was added. Search every proper noun. Read units aloud against the source. Keep a glossary of eight terms and fix them with search after the run.
Can I translate a confidential contract?
Only if sending the text to the Worker and the model is allowed. A shorter excerpt is still a transmission. Split to the pages you need. Label the file draft-translation until someone who knows both languages and the deal says otherwise.
The page count changed.
Translations are not the same length. A heading wraps. The signature page moves. Do not merge on the assumption that page 12 is still page 12. Use a case number as the index.
