An image on a page, not a signed byte range
Sign PDF loads the document with pdf-lib. You draw on a canvas (line width 6, round caps), type a string that is previewed in a script face, or upload an image. That bitmap is embedded and drawn onto the page you select. The rest of the page is still the original page. Encrypted files must be opened first. There is no upload of the PDF and no server-side signature wallet.
The site is HTTPS. That does not turn the stamp into a qualified signature. If the deal needs a certificate, use the counterparty’s system. If the facilities form asked for a mark at the bottom of page 4, this page is the right tool.

Forms versus leases
A four-page access form
The block is on page 4. Fill the printed name in the source before export, because this tool does not fill form fields. Stamp, zoom to 200%, confirm you did not cover the date. Leave the unsigned master as -blank.
A lease a registry must accept
Ask what kind of signature they take before you draw. A stamped PDF that a registry rejects is a wasted evening. The tool cannot tell a lease from a facilities form. The email from their counsel can.
Two signers
Do not draw both names and call it countersigned. Name the file signed-by-me-awaiting-jo so a forward does not imply Jo already marked it.
Then a password
Lock only after the stroke looks right, and expect the lock to rasterize the page. Check the pen again on the locked copy.
Place it, then open the download
- Clear the pad. An empty canvas is the start, not the previous client’s scribble.
- Drop the unlocked PDF. Draw, type, or upload the mark.
- Choose the page. Download.
- Open the file in a reader at 100%, not only in the tool preview. If the mark sits on a clause, export again from the unsigned master.

One master, one stamp
Save the unsigned file under a name you will not attach. Stamp the copy. If the mark covers a date, export again from the unsigned file. Do not nudge by signing a second time on top of the first stamp. Two images on the same page look like a correction, and pdf-lib will not remove the first one for you.
Initials on every page are a different product. This flow places one mark. Counting forty placements by hand is how page 17 stays blank. If the packet needs a certificate, stop and use the system the other party named. A visible image will not satisfy that request no matter how careful the pen was.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a digital certificate signature?
No. The canvas, the typed preview, or an uploaded image is embedded and drawn on the page you choose. There is no signing certificate, timestamp authority, or audit trail. A clerk who asked for DocuSign needs their envelope, not this stamp.
Can someone lift the mark off?
Yes. It is an image XObject. A PDF editor can cover it or omit it on export. The stamp shows that a mark was placed. It is weak evidence of who placed it.
Does signing flatten the whole PDF into JPEGs?
No. Unlike Lock and Compress, this page adds an image to the existing page. The rest of the content stream stays. Locking afterwards will repaint everything, including the stroke.
I signed and then reordered pages.
The mark stays on the page object it was attached to, which may no longer be “the signature page” in the story. Freeze the order, then sign, from the unsigned master if you already stamped the wrong sheet.
Why is the mark on the date?
Fit-to-width on a landscape page makes the block look shorter than it is. Place the mark, download, and open at 100%. Clear the canvas between documents so a leftover stroke is not stamped onto the next file.
Is the PDF uploaded to store the signature?
No. Drawing happens in the tab and pdf-lib writes the download. Do not send the unsigned master and the signed file in the same breath. One process, one attachment.
